Quadriceps injuries occur frequently in sports involving quick starts and stops, and muscle pulls -- also known as strains or tears -- are among the most common quad injuries. Quads players must have a permanent physical handicap that is applicable to one of the above, and they must also be applicable to one of the following: A nerve handicap at C8 (neck vertebra 8) or higher that also involves a motional function handicap. An amputated upper limb.

A quadriceps strain, also known as a quad pull or thigh strain, is a relatively common running injury. Strains can range from a mild discomfort to a full blown tear of most of the muscle which can result in severe pain and the inability to run or walk. The injury typically happens when one or more of the quadriceps muscles become overloaded.
