International Buddhist Festival ‘The Inner Path’
International Buddhist Festival ‘The Inner Path’
The first International Buddhist Festival, ‘The Inner Path’, organised by The Network for Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) and the Devki Foundation, in association with Asoka Mission, slated from April 27 (Friday) to May 1 (Tuesday), 2012 was held at Azad Bhawan, Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi.
The festival featured Buddhist Cinema, Culture, Heritage, Art, Literature, Photography, & Discourses.
The festival displayed films from various countries — Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Afghanistan, America and Argentina. These films showcase the perspectives that the different countries have on Buddhism — from how it originated to what its basic principles are.
As far as art exhibitions are concerned, the Art Value is showcasing a collection of paintings and sculptures that visually depict the growth of Buddhism, from the Buddha’s quest for spirituality, to the eight-fold path he proposed after achieving enlightenment. There was also a photography exhibition, where one could see a collection of 100 photographs by renowned photographer Benoy K. Behl. Titled, The Greatest Journey of Ideas, it is a series of photographs of Buddhist heritage sites and monuments from 19 different countries.
Name of some of the film shown are:
Argentinian film, A Buddha
Korean film, Come Come, Come Upwards
American film, Amongst White Clouds
Bhutanese film, Brilliant Moon
